Air Asia's Live It Up In The Air Competition

I have recently entered myself in a Air Asia competition through their roadshow at Cineleisure. After being approached by one of their super cheerful staff (despite the hot hot weather), I was asked to film a short video as to why I love Air Asia. To be really frank, I didn't know what to say as I had no prior experience in traveling on Air Asia. I love to travel and frequently visit Hong Kong and other Asia regions but I had never tried flying with Air Asia. Air Asia is based in Kuala Lumpur and most of their flights out of Singapore were either very early or too late. It was due to this I had doubted that they will even select me to be in the top 50 contestants to go for a first audition, but somehow, I got 10 votes! I was pleasantly surprised and went down to their audition out of curiosity.

The requirement for the audition was that we were to be dressed in semi-formal, ladies to be in skirts. I supposed that was because they wanted to simulate a actual cabin crew interview. We were asked to sit in a room while the 'interviewers' asked us one by one some simple questions. Out of the people who attended, 12 were selected to proceed to the next round of competition.

Phew, I did get through to the next round, but not before we were tricked into thinking we did not get a chance. The sneaky staff directed us into another room, saying how we didn't get in and we will get a token of appreciation. They then reveal that we were selected. What a tease. ヽ(●-`Д´-)ノ

Through the next 2 weeks, we participated in a course of 5 days Air Asia cabin crew training in their base, Kuala Lumpur. We get a view of how the cabin crew from Air Asia were trained for their safety and first aid procedures. There was a lot of focus on how a airplane works, and all the emergency exits that can be found on a A320 Airbus in case needed. The training was quite tough, I even saw a safety drill in the rain. We graduated with a certificate after our crash course and were thrown straight into a 3 days in-flight challenge.

I had 3 challenges done on two flights. They were namely duty free, on-board meals and also hot seats (Premium seats). To watch how I did in these challenges, please visit this link: https://www.facebook.com/AirAsiaSingapore/app_410673225664475

We were sent home to engage in a voting competition after the training and challenges. The voting took place over a span of 6 days. Grueling 6 days. I didn't sleep much due to anxiety and I stayed up most nights to garner votes. Thanks to the help of many kind netizens, I was constantly able to increase my vote count. I really appreciate those who went out of their way to help share the link and asked for more votes on my behalf. I can't possibly ask for more.

Nearing the end of voting day, which was on a Monday, I spent my weekend with my ipads asking for votes at Marina bay and town area. I am grateful to those who stopped and listen. It was my first ever time doing this and I felt really brave and proud of myself and on top of that, I really enjoyed meeting these people. They were kind and there was this uncle that even rallied his whole family to vote for me. This I believe was one of the highlights of me joining this competition.

When it was announced that I am the grand prize winner, I couldn't believe it for a moment. The first thought I had was to share with my family who were also waiting for the announcement. I tried my best to message/call those who helped me with the voting to thank them for their efforts. My cousin in Thailand was one of those who were helping me pull in numbers because he really wanted me to visit him to celebrate Christmas and treat me to some mango sticky rice which I love.

The prize awarding was held at Air Asia office in Bugis. Most of the office had red walls and one of the staff, Shen even prepared some cupcakes and snacks for us. After a question and answer session, we waited for the 3 referral prize winners to arrive. I met Sherlyn and Desmond who arrived first. I am surprised to hear that Desmond was actually my supporter from phase 1! He said that he and some of his friends voted for me because I am his senior from NYP. To the ladies out there, Desmond is looking for a partner to go with him to Seoul, Korea! (*^3^)/~☆ Sherlyn, who was also from NYP voted for me for the same reason. I LOVE NYP! They were so friendly and I think they really deserved the prize. Especially Sherlyn, who intend to give her tickets to her parents to go to Osaka, Japan! Mr Andrew who is one of the contestant's lecturer also won himself a pair of ticket to Hangzhou, China. I think he is a very good teacher because he was supportive all the way. He reminds me of some of my nice lecturers. I was told that Air Asia will be holding this competition again in the following year. So those who missed their chance to try out this time, do participate in the next. It is a experience you won't forget! (*^0^*)

End of Year Cosplay Event EOY + Licence2Play 2012 L2P

EOY! Time fly by so fast, it's December this month already. It seem not long ago I visited EOY 2011 at Republic Polytechnic. I feel the organizers have really stepped up this year. The event is free entry and it is held at a beautiful location, Marina Barrage. It is a walking distance from Garden by the Bay which is very scenic.

I was happy to see that there were many Pokemon cosplayers. They are a fun bunch. I love the 3 starter evolution forms. For EOY 2011 the girls came as Bulbasaur, Ivysaur and Venusaur. They are thinking of going as the last set of starter evolutions next year, Squirtle, Wartortle and Blastoise. I sure hope to see the last set! There was also a Raichu and Pikachu pair but I didn't get a photo op.

So on to the male cosplayers. I think many guys take extra effort to look "anime" by applying makeup to their faces, using eyeliner to enhance the shape of their eyes, etc. My favorite was the violist.

On to the girls, there were many young cosplayers. I saw a particular few with good outfits that looks handmade. I find the Kyary Pamyu Pamyu cosplayer was the cutest. She even remembered poses from the "Tsukema Tsukeru" MV. I love the Tiffa cosplayer too. I actually met her as herself at a party on 12.12.12. She is really pretty! Maids and lolitas are everywhere too.

Featuring some group/pairing shots. I find that the Vocaloid set were the best. They were dressed well and in character too.

I had a super busy day but I had a chance to make a quick dash to Licence2Play 2012 - Asia's Coolest Gaming Event. The event was happening I would have loved to stay a while more but I had a special event to rush off too. My cousin had her first baby! I am super happy for her and it was a awesome awesome way to end the day. I later found out that on the same day, a close friend of my family and a acquaintance also had their baby girls on the same day! I am so happy I want to type everything in caps right now. ヽ(`◇´)/

I spent pretty much of my day going around asking for votes for Air Asia's Live it Up In The Air competition. There were so many people that are friendly and supportive. I actually enjoyed myself because not only did I meet some fabulous people, I had the opportunity to do several things I never did before in my life. Lastly, I got a picture of a "Punk-cle" to top the day off.
